A woman found deceased inside a Clarksville residence over the weekend has been identified as 23-year-old Katia Duenas-Aguilar of Mesquite, Texas who was a soldier stationed at Ft. Campbell located on the Kentucky–Tennessee border.

Private First Class Duenas-Aguilar was a member of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade of the United States Army’s 101st Airborne Division.

“We are stunned by the death of Pfc. Duenas-Aguilar,” said Lt. Col. Tony Hoefler, spokesperson for the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell. “In the meantime, we will continue to cooperate with Army and local investigative authorities on this matter.”

Duenas-Aguilar (pictured above) was found deceased on May 18 by the Clarksville Police Department (CPD) as officers responded to an ambulance call in the 900 block of Tiny Town Rd at approximately 8:33 p.m.

Detectives with CPD’s Special Operations Homicide Unit responded to the scene as officers found Duenas-Aguilar deceased inside the residence.

Duenas-Aguilar’s death has been ruled a homicide and is being actively investigated, according to CPD.

The 101st Airborne Division’s Office of Public Affairs has since revealed that Duenas-Aguilar entered the active-duty Army as an Information Technology Specialist in 2018. She completed basic combat training and advanced individual training at Fort Eisenhower (previously Fort Gordon), Georgia, before reporting to Fort Campbell in 2019.

Duenas-Aguilar’s awards and commendations included two Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.

CPD is asking anyone with information regarding Duenas-Aguilar’s death to contact Detective Hofinga at (931) 648-0656, ext. 5684.
